WHY IS THE PROJECT IMPORTANT
We are fortunate to have a culturally rich South Asian community in northeast Ohio. This diversity helps bring an array of perspectives. The opportunity that lies ahead of us is to find ways to thread this diversity into a collective and powerful unit. Through this Committee we hope to better connect, inform, learn and educate South Asians related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion opportunities in northeast Ohio.
OVERALL PROJECT GOAL
– Establish sustainable leadership for SAJE – Expand the SAJE Core leadership team to be 30 individuals – Expand the group to include 5 youth
ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO- DATE
The team has conducted a variety of events to create community engagement. This includes: – Two major rallies that engaged approximately 400 participants. – Chai Chat: Reflect and Learn (~5) – Educational Webinars (Harvest For Hunger, Racial Inequities in Health, Racial Equity in Education) – Launched a newsletter, a Facebook page, a website – OSU SAJE Chapter – 3 local events; 11 people in the chapter Health care education interest group (Cleveland Clinic) Scholarships – Minority students in healthcare (Cleveland Clinic) Edwins Event
